USAID's CAIMAN project works with Awa Women 1.  Indigeneous Territories:  We help the Awa, Cofan and Huarani protect their territory which is made up of 7 million hectares of tropical forest.  We also promote sustainable economic activities like tourism and forestry management.  

2.  Conservation of watersheds in protected areas: We provide assistance to the management of protected areas like Cayambe-Coca, Antisana, Cotopaxi y Llanganates.  Protected areas in Ecuador make up 18% of Ecuador’s mainland and generate water for the main cities, hydroelectric plants and agricultural lands.    We also work with private land owners to improve their natural resource management.

3.  Galápagos Marine Reserve:  We support the conservation of the Galápagos Marine reserve by strengthening governance, sustainable fishing, and ecotourism.  We also support dialogue among conflicting parties in the islands as well as natural resource management plans that include local partipatory mechanisms and adequate funding. Results: We have worked adequate management plans that include participatory mechanisms and funding for more than 850.000 hectares.

Total Funding up to this moment:  $41 million dollars.
